We are talking with Mark about combining the 2 booths into 1 large booth.
So you will be in the Southern R2 Rebel Legion booth.
Hahahahahahahaa

Hey this is Mark from the RL (and builder of static droids!).

Seems fate has brought our two groups together- OK, it was really Beth at Megacon, but you get the point...  Very Happy

For anyone who stopped by the Rebel Legion area at CV you may remember the props we have- stuff you'd find in a rebel base command center or hangar.  Needless to say, we won't have the Belgian snowspeeder that was at CV, but we have eveything else.  The idea is to use the props to make our booth area into more of a 'setting' than just an info table for out group.  The idea for Megacon is to re-use the same props to create a small 'command center' setting.

Part of what we have is a 'droid repair area' consisting of a couple worse-for-wear astromechs, a repair station desk, shelves full of various droid parts, tool boxes, etc.  I figure this end of our display will blend perfectly into what this group brings.  Our appointed area is a 20 x 10 space at the end of the R2 builders area, but if we want to blend our props even more to create a larger setting then we're all for it.

I'll get some more details up this weekend of what our ideas of layout are and we can figure out the best way each group can compliment each other's displays!

In the mean time, here's an album of the pieces we'll be using:

those props look great, not quite sure about the droid with the graffiti? we can show you how to weather a droid ;0 j/k
our hoth tunnel is designed to sit in a corner of the booth, maybe we can rotate it slightly with your command center on one of the corner sides ?
also you mentioned many static droids do you have a screen accurate r2d2? that can be used inside the tunnel for the photo op?  that would free up our running droids to be out blending with the crowd.
it does look like between what we have and you have will blend quite nicely!

Don't worry, I don't think we'll have the grafitti droid there- that belongs to one of the founding members of our local pilot squadron within the RL- he was sort of a mascot and there's a long story behind it...

The R2-X2 and R5 are our two static droids and we may have a full running accurate R2 there (the one in the pics).  I'll see if the owner will be able to come.

Do you have an accurate measurement of the 'footprint' of your Hoth tunnel?

Sounds like its a deal then.
On that Thursday of setup we'll all get together and decide on the layout, I'm sure things will probably get moved several times until we get it right.
Some of us will be there at different times on Thursday so we may have to just get everything to the booth and see just what we all have together.
I'd like to keep the moving droids in areas that have access to leave the booth. I like to go play in the crowd.
SeeYa Soon.

Then if you guys are open to a bit of 'blending', most of our stuff does best when its against a wall; I'd like to take advantage of that big wall we've got this time.

I'd like to have a floor plan for the RL stuff worked out ahead of time, but everything is certainly flexable.

I also requested an 8 foot tall white curtain wall on one end of the space (our 20' end).  We can use that to make things more 'Hoth' like if we need to.

Todd has some ideas concerning the blending of the booth, since the Hoth scene is so large and since it was really built for a corner it has some raw areas that could be covered by your computer station.
We also have to Hoth ice towers that could help blend the booth.
Without the measurements of all props and blending 2 groups together I don't think we will be able to preset a floor plan.
I think it will work out OK and as long as there is enough of us there to move the heavy items around the booth will turn out great.

I"m sure it will all work well no matter how we do it.

We just need to meet a couple criteria here and there for RL needs.  Things like needing to have at least our table being at the border of the space so guests can come look at props and talk, etc.

I'll give Todd a call in the next couple days and we can see what we can come up with.

And if it helps, I have accurate dims for all our stuff.  I don't think we need to have every little thing nailed down ahead of time- just a ball park idea.  Having set this stuff up at CV, even with a very specific floor plan and a big crew, it took way longer than anticipated.

I think this is going to be great!  I've been an advocate for getting R2 builders more involved in RL stuff for a long time- it will be fun to see what kind of showing we can make with just a little combined effort!
