Cheap Controller Systems

http://www.cheapcontrolsystems.com
Want to use a PS2 to control your droid. Here's the C6C.

Calvin -

Have you attempted using this with the JEDI controlls at all?  I know that the biggest part of the control system is the stick function control, but it seems that it requires a button press as well as a stick motion to make it work.  I'm a little worried after what you were expressing at Mega about button presses that this may interfere.

IF you are planning on jedi system then i suggest Either the vex 6 channel or the spectrum dx6i
the vex can be found on ebay quite cheap, the spectrum requires a extra board that scott has for the jedi
the plus on the vex is cheap cost, plugs right into the jedi board. minuses if you are at a con with several droids the possibility exist that 2 may be on same frequency so you cant run both droids at same time

pluses with spectrum 2.4 ghz , you dont have to worry whose on what channel. minuses higher cost, adapter board to jedi, and cost of system

if your NOT going with jedi then that opens up larger range of what you pick to run your droid

The C6C is a great little board for what it does, But with only 6 channels I have out grown it.
I like the Jedi system but I wanted something a little more simple.
I found a ARC32 micro controller board on the Internet and have it on order.
It can control 32 servos and I think 20 of these servos have active position built into the micro.
It will run sensors and various other things but I just want it for servo control.
The code will allow me to use the Ps2 controller and with code I can use the right and left buttons to switch each button to do various things.
I did this with the Phidget setup and I had more ps2 control than I would ever need.
Now if it would just get here in the mail.

Well I have the JEDI on order, but if I find it's not really what I wanted I can always post it up on the boards and get most of what I have in it back out, I'm sure (that or save it for Droid #2).

I really like the idea of the PS2 control, especially for size and cost considerations).  I'll have to pay close attention to how your setup works once you have it going Calvin!  I really hope to have Arfour to a point where I'll be doing detail and electronics by this fall.

I'm going to have to bribe you with lunch one weekend soonish to help me prep for my skins, Todd.  Maybe we can discuss electronics some then, too.  Right now I'm just focusing on legs and shoulders Wink

Probably would be at least May with work and droid status right now.  April so far will be legs and shoulders, and my hope is may will be ankles and feet.

I'm making good progress with where I am with the legs so far, and the shoulders are moving along.. so I may keep that pace for a bit.

Make sure to post up on when (and where) you'll be out flying, though.  I'd love to see your planes in action, and I'd bring my father-in-law (maybe my dad as well) along.

this weekend is practice flights and shake down. so the fewer spectators the better i am afraid.

another event i will be at (wont be flying i am pit crew) is TOP GUN at lakeland airport apr 27-may 1
